You have never tasted anything quite like an old-fashioned apple
without the sprays and preservatives of a typical grocery store. St. Francis Farm grows 9 different varieties of apples, including the "old fashioned" varieties that you may not find elsewhere. We grow Old Fashioned Red Delicious, Jonathan, Stayman Winesap, Rome Beauty, Old Fashioned McIntosh, Gravenstein, Golden Delicious, Cortland and Granny Smith apples. The apple crop starts in September and last through October. We cultivate our orchard without using chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers which are harmful to humans, animals, beneficial insects, the soil or water. Because of the warm climate and long growing season of the Grand Valley, we are continually challenged [to outwit the “coddling moth”] to bring in a crop of perfect apples and pears without a tell-tale worm bite. If you don’t mind cutting out a little “bad spot” you’ll love our apples for cooking and snacks.
